The five of us met at The University of Leeds and came together through our mutual love of cohesive nonsense, thought-provoking whimsy and well made tea.
As a collective, we have a uniquely non-hierarchical approach to theatre making, with everyone having equal input into the creative process. We all write, perform, direct, devise, improvise and design collectively; bringing a voice born out of a variety of comedic tastes and styles.
You will find us in the rehearsal room, laughing at one another. With all of us having a hand in the creative process; any idea has to impress four other people. We create a safe space where ideas can be shared, laughed at, encouraged and built upon. We want to make one another laugh and cry, and it’s that mutual respect that is the cornerstone of our process.
We all met at University in 2012, but it wasn’t until 2015 that we formed Forget About The Dog after working together on a course project. This project became our first show; The Life and Times of Lionel.
In 2017 we became Associate Artists of stage@leeds, and under their guidance, toured our second show; 100 Ways to Tie a Shoelace.
In 2020 we became supported artists of Harrogate Theatre, through their Seed programme, and used this to create our third show; Happy Place.
In 2023, we gained Arts Council England (ACE) funding to tour Happy Place and due to the success of the tour, Happy Place will be back in 2024! We are also currently creating our fourth show, alongside various other projects.
